The results is as follows

Mike Collins Lib Dems 1040

Con 751

Lab 175

Majority 289

Cllr. Jeremy Hilton, leader of the Liberal Democrat group said: “I am delighted to welcome Cllr. Mike Collins to the county group. He will make an excellent county councillor. Mike had a superb win in Brockworth and Hucclecote. He gained the seat from the Independents, with an overall majority. The Liberal Democrats are doing well in Gloucestershire and we shall be working hard over the next 12 months to increase our numbers on the county council at the elections in 2009. The Conservatives are failing the people of Gloucestershire. It is clear from the Brockworth and Hucclecote result that confidence in the way the Tories run the county council is low. It is the Liberal Democrats that are providing the effective opposition to them.”
