July 2011
The long awaited flood alleviation works is now nearing completion. You cannot have failed to miss the large hole being dug into land at the foot of Chosen Hill alongside the Barnwood Link Road between Elmbridge Court Roundabout and the C&G.
Elmbridge Councillors were fortunate to be given a tour of the site in June to see for themselves how work is progressing. In times of exceptional heavy rain the Horsbere Brook will run off its excess water into this massive balancing pond, thus alleviating flooding along the course of the watercourse.
Councillor Susan Witts happy to see the work nearing completion.
Hard at work to get the work completed
On completion this land is to be landscaped into a wetlands area.
It will be for the enjoyment of all.
Experts predict it will take at least two years to become a wetlands. We look forward to seeing people enjoying themselves when it is finished.
More importantly we look forward to having at least one flood free watercourse in Elmbridge.
